Weightlifting Fail

Occurred on May 15, 2018 / Berrien Springs, Michigan, USA

Info from Licensor: "I was attempting a max effort bench press at Meier Health Club at Andrews University, to see how much strength i gained with a power building program I was on for 18 weeks. The weight on the bar was 335 pounds. I was using an Olympic weightlifting bar made by Rouge. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that Olympic weight lifting bars have a lot of spin to make lifts such as power cleans and snatches easier to get under. Therefore, the bar slipped out because my wrists were fighting the extra spin. I had no problems attempting this with lighter weight, but that changed when it got heavier. Also, wrist wraps would have helped some in fighting the spin. After that attempt, I did 3 drop sets and finished my workout that day with no pain. I'm a lucky guy to have walked away injury free."
