Driver Stops a Brutal Assault on Young Girl

Occurred on June 16, 2017 / Newport, Gwent, Wales

Info from Licensor: "I was driving past town center and noticed group of youths standing under the bridge next to the main road. Upon driving closing I noticed girl laying on the floor and another girl beating her with both arms.
There were several youths trying to stop the assault but attacker started slapping them too. In the background were standing another 7 - 8 youths just watching all of this. One of the males was recording it with his phone.
I sounded my vehicles horn and pulled over to stop the attacker. Upon seeing me getting out of the car another girl grabbed the attacker and started dragging her away. I told them to stay and wait for the police. At this moment I realized that girls responsible for the assault were intoxicated and became aggressive towards me. I tried to stop attacker from leaving but was outnumbered. All youths walked away but stayed close enough to shout abuse at me. Few other drivers stopped but no one got out to help me. I rang ambulance and police. The medics attended and checked the victim.
Girls responsible for the assault were arrested shortly after."
