GRAPHIC CONTENT - Man Kills Cougar Defending Dog

Occurred on September 22, 2021 / West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

Info from Licensor: "I was on the way home from fighting forest fires up Bear Main forest service road in West Kelowna. I came across a cougar on the road appearing somewhat unhealthy and extremely slow to move away from the vehicle. Once the cat started moving, I followed the cat at a walking pace, then noticed a dog run out from a roadside campsite. I yelled numerous times at the owner that there was a cat on the road. Eventually, the man realized what I was trying to communicate, started to call his dogs to no avail. The cougar spotted one of the dogs, changed direction and broke into a jog. The video captures the incident as the owner ran to retrieve a weapon and jumped in on the fight as cougar launched onto the dog ending in the cougar being killed and an injured dog. After the man successfully killed the cougar I stopped the video and went to see if the man or his dog needed help. The dog had multiple injuries but was responsive. The man stated he had his first aid kit and would be taking the dog down to be looked at."
