Stranger Saved from Burning Truck

Occurred on May 29, 2019 / Fort Pierce, Florida, USA

Info from Licensor: "I was on my way to work when I saw a group of people standing on the road. One was on the phone, the others were just staring. I looked to my right and saw a white pickup truck and slammed into an oak tree and the front was almost totally caved in. I immediately moved to the shoulder of the road and jumped out and ran to the vehicle. I saw that there was a fire underneath the hood so I ran back to my service truck and grabbed the fire extinguisher and a sledgehammer. I emptied the fire extinguisher on the front of the vehicle and with the sledgehammer and made an entry on the passenger side of the truck. The dash was caved in on the 55-year-old lady, I suspected her legs were broken. She had multiple lacerations on her face and I knew the time was of the essence so I told her I was going to get her out. By that time, the heat was coming in the vehicle, the fire started to grow again. I grabbed underneath her arms and dragged her across the seat, at that time an off-duty firefighter on the scene helped by grabbing the lady underneath the arms while I grabbed her legs, trying not to injure her further. We carried her about 30 yards away from the vehicle just in case it exploded. By the time we set her down, the fire had already come in the cab and would have surely killed us both. The off-duty firefighter started administering first-aid and I started praying for the lady."
