Huge Honeybee Swarm Falls On Man's Head

Occurred on May 26, 2016 / Rochester, New York, USA

Info from Licensor: "I was called for an emergency honey bee swarm removal. The swarm flew in and a funeral was going to be held at this home right next to this apple tree. Homeowners were panicked and had to have it gone for the safety of all the guests. We went right over to take care of them. We don't kill honey bees so we generally remove them and relocate them. I have done 100's of them and luckily am still alive. This is the first time one had fallen on me, which made this video and removal so much worse (dangerous). I was Facebooking live this removal for the first time as well. Everything was typical in this removal for me except for the fact that it was so high and really tangled up in multiple branches. Apple tree branches intertwine each other and are not easy to climb into. Since the swarm was on multiple branches it was like playing Jenga, guessing which branch to safely cut so that the swarm did not fall or get disturbed in any way. Well, I guessed the wrong branch, it was like a slingshot when one of the branches broke free. 15,000 bees fell straight on me. I was being stung but decided that I would rather not overreact and jump or make it worse. I did not want to show fear because the bees can sense that. Eventually, after getting a good video, me and my camera man came up with a plan to get them off me and everything ended okay!"
