World War II Veteran Pays Respects to Fallen Friend

Occurred on May 24, 2019 / Cambes-en-Plaine, Normandy, France

Info from Licensor: "British Normandy veteran, Trooper Alan King, of the East Riding Yeomanry (Royal Armoured Corps) pays his respects to his Tank Commander and close friend, Corporal Louis Wilkes. Louis was shot in the head by a German sniper on the 8th July 1944 whilst commanding a Sherman Tank in Normandy. Alan King carried his friend to a nearby Aid Post but it was too late for Louis and he died. Alan King took his friends body and buried it in a nearby field, opposite what is now the Cambes-en-Plaine War Cemetery. Louis was re-interned in the cemetery after the war and this is his last resting place. The memories of that day and other events in Alan's military career were so horrific that he has only been able to talk about his part in WW2 and return to Normandy battlefields in the last 10 years."
