These funny galahs seem to be preening themselves in the rain, doing somersaults on a power wire that get the water on their wings and bodies. This is a cold winters day in the southern state of Victoria, Australia. A small town called Jan Juc on the Great Ocean Road, between Torquay and the famous Bells Beach where the World Surf Championship is held every year. Galah Eolophus roseicapillus Brief Description: Pink-white head, pink body, grey wings. Identifying Characteristics: Upperparts and undertail: light grey, underparts pink. Top of head: pink-white with a small crest. Wingtips and tail dark grey. Body up to 40 cm long. Biology: Galahs often flock in large numbers in farmland areas where food is abundant. They eat seeds.
