Info from Licensor: I quit my finance career about a year ago to start my own business pursuing one of my passions - home improvement. I document my renovation projects and share renovation tutorials. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I seek to keep pushing down barriers and inspire others to potentially tackle a project themselves too!
My life and first year of starting my business was severely shaken up by an unexpected injury. I broke my foot, including compound fractures that required surgery and halted my ability to work and do just about anything safely for over 6 months. As a single-income household, I only have myself to rely on... and I almost considered going back to a desk job and giving up my dream and career.
I'm finally back on my feet (literally)! I'm back to doing renovation projects and sharing them for others to see and be inspired.
On this particular day, I was at a customer's house when I heard bird feathers rustling. I realized it was coming from the bottom of a gutter that is routed under concrete. The bird was struggling and suffering with no possible way to get out and potentially going to experience a slow, painful death. I got my client's permission to disassemble the gutter and found the bird stuck at the very bottom. I was concerned that it may have died as I was trying to rescue it because it stopped moving. I tried several ways to get it out with no luck. Finally, I was able to scoop it up (although still not moving) and out of the gutter. It started flying away and immediately into the road in which it ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CAR. Luckily it was just missed by the car and flew away happily! The bird just so happened to be lucky enough to escape two death scares! Fun fact: It was St. Patrick's Day!
