Info from Licensor: "Heather and Steve Winfree have been married for 5 years. Steve has been battling kidney disease for 14 years (ever since he was 18 years old). Steve's kidney function has just now gotten to the point that he has been put on the kidney transplant list. Heather got tested immediately. The transplant center said the results would take between 7-10 days to come back to say if she was a match or not. Baseball card collecting had been a hobby they enjoyed together in order to keep their minds off of the stresses of his disease so Heather decided to make a custom baseball card for Steve to tell him the news. She ordered it before she knew if she was a match or not in hopes that she would be. On 7/6/17 she got the call from her transplant coordinator that she was a match. The baseball card had not come in the mail yet so Heather contacted Topps, told them the situation and the emailed the proof so she could tell Steve immediately. It was a very emotional moment when Steve found out. Heather has to undergo additional testing to make sure she is in good enough health to donate a kidney. If everything goes well they hope to have surgery by the end of this summer or by early fall."
