Occurred on August 14, 2019 / Seattle, Washington, USA
Info from Licensor: "I was biking home from work on the UW Campus at approximately 9:50 pm on Wednesday, August 14th when I saw what appeared to be fireworks on the sidewalk to my left. Upon stopping, I realized it was an electric bike battery (LimeBike) that was exploding. The main event (shown in the video) lasted approximately 2 minutes. The video was stopped after flaming projectiles were being launched from a burning pile behind the bike. I moved away to a safer distance. At this point, police showed up and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flame. The bike was smoking vigorously at this point. Within 5 minutes of the end of the video, the fire department arrived on the scene. I left at this point. Across the street, on the other side of the bike, 5-10 people were gathered and watching. Another cyclist approached next to me and nearly was hit by a projectile. LimeBike claims it was vandalism, but the event started before I was on the scene so I cannot comment on how it started."
