Occurred on April 24, 2018 / Kruger National Park, South Africa
Info from Licensor: "I left Shingwedzi camp in Kruger National Park South Africa at 6am, heading down the road towards Letaba camp. I was the first one down the road when I saw a very strange shape edging across the tarmac. I had absolutely no idea what it was. I slowly drove towards it and it turned out to be a massive Monitor Lizard dragging a clinging giant Snouted Cobra. I was very impressed by the strength of Lizard especially as it had clear puncture marks in its neck and it was covered in venom. I filmed them as they made their way up the road. A couple of times the lizard escaped but the cobra caught it again. As time went on the lizard became more lethargic and could barely move. In the end another car shot down the road chasing the cobra away (via the underneath of my car) and the lizard remained in the middle of the road, only occasionally flicking its tongue. I waited for quite a while to see if the snake came back or the monitor lizard would recover. Unfortunately the road became busy and I had to leave, I suspect the lizard became road kill."
