Info from Licensor: At the end of our trip, we were pedaling down the Intracoastal waterway on a hot summer day in the small city of Freeport Texas. While heading back to the boat ramp we encountered a pod of bottlenose dolphins. They were breaching the surface of the water off in the distance directly in our path. As we got closer the playful pod became very curious and came in for a closer look. They were within hand reach as they checked out our kayaks. Some of them were pushing a strong wake directly behind us. We could literally see their noses keeping pace just inches behind my rudder. This caused a brief boost in our speed as they thrust their tails up and down. Some of them shot through with an amazing burst of speed directly under the kayak and then breached the surface in front of the bow. The experience reminded me of dolphins that can be seen jumping out of the water at the bow of big boats and ships as they push through the ocean. It truly was an amazing encounter with our finned friends.
