Dad Receives the Gift of a New Bionic Arm

Info from Licensor: "After years of research and contacting several doctors' offices, Dr. Tony at BioTech worked diligently to help make Johannes's dream of having a prosthetic hand a reality. Johannes was born without a left hand and had a dummy prosthetic for a very short time as a boy. Born in East Berlin-before the wall came down, his plaster-made prosthetic arm proved to be too heavy and slowed down this adventurous boy who loved to climb trees and ride his bike. Since, Johannes has learned to live with only one hand. After getting married, his wife helped him to realize how not having a prosthetic arm has caused his muscle development on his left-side to be very underdeveloped. Determined to live his life to the fullest, Johannes began weight training on a regular basis specifically to strengthen his muscles on his left side. Because of this, he was strong enough to qualify for this type of Ottobock bionic hand. After receiving a generous gift from a family member who so believed in Johannes and wanted to be a part of making his dreams come true, Johannes was finally able to proceed with getting his hand manufactured. In this video, you see the first time that Johannes experienced having a left hand. As a father to 3 girls, there are things he dreamt of doing but was never able to with only one hand. Holding both girls' hands and clapping are two of those dreams that became a reality in this video. Dancing with his princesses is part of his daily life, but being able to dance with them with both hands one day at their wedding receptions is a reality he will now know and relish for the rest of his life. There is a long journey of learning and continuing to strengthen the muscles required to operate the bionic hand, but the moments captured in this video are what will sustain him when the learning and training gets difficult. Because of the generous gift given that made these moments possible, Johannes and Karen have decided to pay it forward with the proceeds of this video to help make someone else's dream a reality."
