Info from Licensor: The goal was to make an extremely satisfying kinetic mobile for people to gaze at and get lost in. This is an evolving bellows design I was experimenting with after being required to fabricate bellows for an installation. This video depicts a successful proof of concept! The bellows are rotating in an inside out, or 'blooming' pattern which requires the motors to spin in opposite directions. The bellows are unique in that besides being handmade by 3D printed directly onto the fabric, they have naturally compliant hinges and joints, which allow them to fold and change shape as they spin.
