Brown Bear Dumpster Diving in South Lake Tahoe

Occurred on July 12, 2017 / South Lake Tahoe, California, USA

Info from Licensor: "I was pulling into my parking spot when suddenly I noticed this huge black bear sitting on the ground next to the dumpster, casually eating his dinner from the dumpster. I was shocked! I have never seen one so close in daylight like this. Typically, I will spot them at night crawling in the dumpsters. I immediately got out my phone and began recording. I eventually parked my car and got out and continued to film from about 25-30 feet away. He got up from where he was sitting, came around the dumpster, and began diving again! My neighbors began to come out (there was probably about 7 people outside watching him) and he did not mind one bit. He was focused on his scavenge and unafraid of the people watching. Eventually, one of my neighbors came out with a pot and spoon and started scaring him away with the loud noises. That is exactly what you should do when you encounter a bear."
