Three people had a lucky escape when their hot air balloon collided with a huge pylon before crashing to the ground in a terrifying freak accident.
The flying instructor and two passengers had been taking part in a hot air balloon training session when they were blown off course and slammed into the electricity pylon in the village of Revakino, close to the Russian capital Moscow.
After getting the fabric of the balloon caught on the metal structure, the three passengers plummeted to the ground as the material ripped.
Motorist Emil Baranov, 43, who was driving home at the time and captured the scene on his in-car camera said: "The sun was beginning to set and there was a beautiful yellow glow in the sky framed by these hot air balloons.
"I commented on it to my wife and then we saw another balloon hanging from a pylon.
"As we got closer the fabric suddenly ripped and the whole lot fell to the ground .
"We jumped out to see if we could help.
"There were already a few people running over and when we got there we saw three people unconscious.
"I thought they were dead ."
When ambulances arrived they rushed they instructor and trainees to a nearby hospital where they were treated for cuts and bruises and shock but were otherwise ok.
A hospital spokesman said: "They were very lucky to have survived and fortunately weren’t too badly injured apart from the shock.
"I think it will take a while for them to go up again."
