Info from Licensor: "My great grandpa reunited with the mighty Garand after 72 years. After he was wounded on August 14th of 1944 in Dinard, France he was withdrawn from the war and that was the last time he held one. My grandpa is a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge among others."
