Mama Moose Grazes With Her Newborn Calf

Occurred on June 1, 2020 / Rocky Mountain National Park

Info from Licensor: "I have a love for the outdoors and have a special love for moose. I'm a retired biologist and spend 3 to 5 days a week hiking the backcountry photographing wildlife and fly-fishing. I especially enjoy late spring and early summer when the moose calves are born. I have anywhere from 600 to over 800 moose encounters every year. I've found that moose are extremely intelligent. If you show respect and spend some time with the same moose as I've done, they'll soon recognize you by your voice, face, and smell. I had one moose that even recognized my vehicle! One cow moose I've known for many years now. She'll actually bring her newborn calf to me every year. Moose are very large animals and do have the potential to be very dangerous if you don't know how to behave around them. But I've found that moose are actually very gentle animals and will even show empathy. I call them the 'Gentle Giants of the Forrest.' I've become what I call a 'Mooseaholic'!"
