Alligator Hunts Opossum on Shoreline

Occurred on April 7, 2022 / Lakeland, Florida, USA

Info from Licensor: "I was working on April 7 in Lakeland, FL, and behind where I was working was a pond. I'm an avid fisherman, so I usually carry a fishing rod in my truck like many other fishermen do. So on my lunch break, I decided to do some fishing in the pond behind my work area, with the cooler days coming to an end and the water temperatures warming up, the bass are spawning and the chance to catch a giant is likely. So I wanted to go look for some fish beds and as I was walking down the shoreline of this pond, I had seen an opossum nearby, coming my direction, I went around it not to disturb it and so I just kept my eye on it when I then saw an alligator in the water moving towards it. Then that's when the tables had turned for the worse, I'm mentally thinking I can't believe my eyes right now, is this really about to happen? That opossum needs to run and run quicky. I definitely did not want to get between two wild animals and especially an alligator that appears to be on the hunt. So I stayed back and had to record what was going on or no one would believe what just happened. I've never experienced a situation like that."
