Strong Winds Form Snow Rollers

Occurred on February 21, 2021 / DeWitt, Nebraska, USA Info from Licensor: "On Sunday, Feb 21st my husband and I were on our way back into Lincoln after visiting family in Plymouth, NE. We were on highway 103 south of Dewitt, NE when we noticed hundreds of “snowballs” in a snow covered field. We slowed down and watched for 20-30 seconds before we realized the wind was blowing the snow into wheels/balls. Neither one of us had ever seen anything like it before and spent 10-15 watching. I took this video. The correct term is snow rollers, a rare meteorological phenomenon that requires the right mix of conditions to occur."
