St. Patrick's Day in Leland
Posted by:
James F Burnham
Occurred on March 18, 2016 / Leland, Michigan, USA Info from Licensor: "For decades in Leland, Michigan, a rite of passage into Spring has been the tradition of "berging". Weather and ice thickness permitting (for safety), large squares of ice are cut using chainsaws from the mouth of the Leland River on Lake Leelanau. A small number of people use poles to guide the "berg" down the river into Leland. The slow trip is less than 1/2 mile long."
