Crane buckles and drops steeple onto highway while moving it from atop Milton Christian Church. The Church is being dismantled in order to move it to a new site -- the steeple was scheduled for demolition. After the drop, the crane fell on power lines and thousands were without power for hours. Miraculously no one was injured. The Church dates from 1834. One early visitor described the structure as follows: "Mirrored in the Mersey, its colonial tower rises over a hundred feet and with tapering point lifts thought upward. Boston shows few churches more beautiful."
