Info from Licensor: "This video features Mariah Madigan, the founder and president of Frankie’s World Rat Rescue, with 5 of the original founding members of the rescue snuggling in her kangaroo pouch. Frankie’s World is a nonprofit sanctuary and rescue that currently houses over 100 animals, mostly rats, many of which are medically complex/special needs. The video helps showcase that rats are far from what society portrays them to be. Historically, we’ve been taught that they are dirty, disease ridden, aggressive pests. However, these are all false assumptions. Most people don’t know that rats actually had nothing to do with the plague. More modern research has concluded that, because of the way and speed in which it spread, it was impossible to have been rats, and was likely fleas and ticks carried by humans. That misinformation was the catalyst for a whole slew of false stereotyping surrounding these amazing little rodents. The truth is, rats are incredibly clean, intelligent, resourceful, social, and one of the best companion animals you could ask for. Mariah founded her rescue because of its namesake rat, Frankie, and the once in a lifetime bond they shared. Frankie and Mariah were soul mates, and her goal through Frankie’s World Rescue is to help show the world how incredible rats are, and change the common perception of them from pests, to pets."
